Family Farms
Wisconsin is still America’s Dairyland (sorry, California), but from 2019-2020 alone we lost 600 family farms. When we think of America’s Dairyland, we think of barns surrounded by pastures of dairy cows and other livestock, rural communities, and festivals. Our farmers need support at the federal, state, and local levels so that farmers have the resources they need to thrive. The state needs to prioritize resources for our farmers that can increase efficiencies, decrease environmental impacts, and increase a farmer’s ability to stay competitive in an ever changing economic environment. Initiatives like the Dairy Innovation Hub can be part of those prioritized resources, and propose forward looking policies that can support our farmers and our farming legacy
